SSMC Electronic Delivery – Get on the list
For many years, Sustainable San Mateo County has been known for its hard copy Indicators Report. This year’s 80 page document measures over 30 key sustainability indicators and describes the specific actions of the 20 individual communities in the county. It’s a terrific research document, and if you haven’t seen it, be sure to get a copy. You can even download it from our website. http://www.sustainablesanmateo.org/
In the twelve years we’ve been working toward a sustainable San Mateo County, we’ve seen a community grow up around us as more people begin to understand the relationship and interdependence among water, housing, transportation, the economy and the other indicators we monitor. In the long run, SSMC wants to help build this movement by sharing information with a larger audience. To that end, we’re transforming our website into an interaction-friendly place where people can post information to others or comment on others’ postings themselves.
- We’ve uploaded the 2008 Indicators Report so you can reference the entire document or one indicator at a time.
- We’ve posted synopses of our monthly roundtable discussions and urge you to read them, ask questions or comment.
- On this wiki, we’ve published essays on the key sustainability issues that keep cropping up in our conversations with the cities and sustainability experts. If you have a contribution you’d like to share with the larger community, let us know. We like participation.
- And finally, on the wiki, we’re publishing Gladwyn's Corner, a series of interesting articles from various sources that’s edited by and named after SSMC’s Communications Committee Chair, Gladwyn d’Souza.
The point is, there’s a lot of expertise out there. We’d like to disseminate it and encourage discussion about it. If you want to learn more, or just keep up with what we’re doing, please sign up for regular email updates at this link:
And keep a periodic eye on our website at: http://www.sustainablesanmateo.org
To participate in this Community Discussion and add your comments to the wiki, you’ve got to
- Establish an account with pbwiki via the upper right corner of this screen.
- Then before you log in, you need to request access. We’ll approve that and you’ll be good to go.
The process may be a little cumbersome to start, but subsequent wiki visits will be much easier.
